Day two of the marathon started early! I woke up two hours earlier than I normally do to get everything in the oven and on the stove. I put all the food for the entire day in the oven at the beginning... Don't do that! Wait until after the second movie is finished to put in the food for the third our it will dry out!
I am a huge fan of Edoras/ Rohan/ Everything To Do With This Movie, so I was super excited to begin!
The Two Towers started off with salt... Not the best way to begin the day, but we soon washed it down with lembas! This was my favorite of the lembas recipes, but it got tough in the fridge and dry when toasted again. Make this the day you wish to eat it!
The Orcish "medicine" we used was Hot Chocolate from @spiceandtea that I won in a giveaway in December... It was much better than whatever Merry drank!
The iconic "meat's back on the menu, boys!" scene was filled with yummy foods! @noevilfoods The Pardon roast, homemade mushroom gravy, @beyondmeat sausages, and homemade nut bread. This was super filling!
Gollum then eats a worm... We used spaghetti noodles! I tried finding gelatin free gummy worms online. No luck! They were all sold out or not in worm shape.
We then have this fun scene in Fangorn where Gimli tastes Orc blood (my inner teacher voice was screaming "don't put that in your mouth, you don't know where it's been!) Gimli has slowly become one of my favorite characters. His boisterous pride and steadfastness make him a cornerstone for the fellowship. I weep with him at Balin's tomb and wonder with him at the Glittering Caves (I wish this had been in the movies so much).
BTW, I dressed up today inspired by the soldiers guarding the White Tree in Minas Tirith!
There's so much eating in the first half of Two Towers, it's insane!
Here we have Ent Draught, a fandom blend from @adagioteas ... This is what caused Pippin and Merry to grow taller!
After Théodred's funeral there's a ton of food eaten at Edoras... Tomato soup, tofu feta, hummus, pickles, and bread were my take on this meal.
Then we had the infamous rabbit stew with Po-ta-toes. We had potatoes three ways: boiled, mashed, and in a stew (with some of the roast, onions, garlic, carrots, and lots of herbs and spices).
The boiled and mashed potatoes were some of my favorite things to eat this day. So basic, yet so tasty! Sam has the right idea!
Time to change disks, BTW... Halfway there!
The second half of the movie begins with one of my favorite scenes on the march to Helm's Deep: Éowyn makes terrible fish stew and Aragorn tries to dispose of it without hurting her feelings (and Éowyn finds out that Aragorn is truly out of her league as well as being 87 years old). I made miso soup with you and seaweed.
Moving along, we've got gollum eating a raw fish out of the Forbidden Pool in Ithilien... I wrapped seaweed around some tofu. 😂
Last, but not least, The Last March Of The Ents! We drank some @rishitea peppermint sage tea as Isengard's fires were quenched!
Here Ends The Second Film
